In my many years working as an eating disorder treatment specialist I have become acutely aware of the significant costs associated with the treatment of eating disorders. With costs so high and insurance companies becoming the gatekeepers of care, I have seen people go without necessary treatment or have treatment cut short because the insurance company felt it should be time they were “ better already!”

At Shoreline Center for Eating Disorders Treatment, we have on many occasion been able to provide treatment at a significantly reduced rate. However, due to our significantly increasing expenses, we are very limited in what we can do. For this reason, we decided to create the Shoreline Center Treatment Scholarship Fund. In collaboration with Public Health Enterprise Foundation, a 501(c)3 non-profit corporation, we now have an avenue to raise funds to be used for scholarships for treatment and recovery services. We plan to offer full scholarships for varying lengths of treatment, as well as partial scholarships for those who can financially contribute some on their own. This program is primarily designed to meet the needs of the uninsured and underinsured eating disorder population.

We are currently accepting donations on-line through Pay-pal.com. We promise that no administrative fees will ever be used from this fund, and that 100% of the funds collected will go entirely towards scholarship awards for the treatment of eating disorders such as anorexia and bulimia. All donations made to the Shoreline Center Treatment Scholarship Fund are tax deductible.

Criteria for obtaining a scholarship will be available shortly, as well as an online application.

If you have been impacted yourself or know someone who has dealt with eating disorders, in treatment or recovery, then you understand the difficult and lengthy journey that one may experience. Adding a financial burden is more than some can overcome. Please consider donating to the scholarship fund. Help someone get the support and care they need.
