Intuitive Eating Support Group | Eating Disorders

A Registered Dietitian exclusively trained by the creators of the Intuitive Eating Concepts leads the Intuitive Eating Support Group. The group strives to provide support, guidance, and friendship to assist in the adoption of an Intuitive Eating lifestyle.

Intuitive Eating rejects the diet mentality and re-teaches the art of listening to one’s own body for hunger and satiety cues to achieve and maintain your body’s natural weight.

Using the book Intuitive Eating by Elyse Resch, RD and Evelyn Tribole, RD as a guide, individuals share their breakthroughs, challenges, insights and support.  The group is composed of members with varying backgrounds.  Some have struggled with weight their entire lives; others have battled the ravages of eating disorders, while others are just seeking to establish a healthier relationship with food free of obsession and fears of gaining weight.

The Intuitive Eating group meets on most Friday evenings for an hour and a half.  Group discussions may be based on particular chapters or principles of intuitive Eating, but all are individually tailored to the unique need of the group’s members.

Because we understand that re-learning the actual eating process is a challenge, group dinners are also included in the support group once a month. This provides individuals with the training to “check-in” with their hunger and honor their bodies’ wants and needs within a safe and supportive setting.

Living in a culture which ceaselessly fills our minds with notions of quick-fixes, instant gratification and superficiality, its easy and desirable to believe that someone or something outside of ourselves holds the answers we seek. However, through Intuitive Eating concepts individuals learn to trust themselves and the body cues and sensations they were born with.  The best authority on your body is you.
