For over the past 15 years, Shoreline Center for Eating Disorder Treatment has been profoundly dedicated to helping individuals recover from all forms of eating disorders. We are a treatment facility for men and women, ages 13 and up, who are struggling with anorexia, bulimia and binge eating, exercise addiction and co-morbid mental health issues. Shoreline Center for Eating Disorder Treatment expands services into Orange County (Laguna Hills), California.
Shoreline Orange County services are provided in a warm and nurturing setting, by a highly trained, compassionate and empathetic multidisciplinary team. We implement evidenced-based treatment practices in our individual and group therapy, meal support, medical nutrition therapy, medical management DBT, ACT, CBT, Intuitive Eating concepts, expressive and equine therapies.
The facility provides a monthly CEDS (Certified Eating Disorder Specialist) Case Consultation Group for professionals.
Day Treatment/Partial Hospital Program (PHP)
Our Day Treatment Program is the most intensive treatment service for eating disorders that we offer. Our Partial/Day treatment program meets Monday through Saturday for six to eight hours each day. Participants will have multiple therapeutic groups a day, 2 individual therapy sessions per week, as well as visits with the psychiatrist and dietitian. Two meals and one snack daily are provided as well as movement therapy such as yoga or stretch. Individual, group and family therapy are critical components of a good treatment plan. Our treatment is based upon a comprehensive clinical model that incorporates specific methods and modalities that have proven effective in our own treatment setting as well as in evidence-based research.
All programs follow APA guidelines, and are fully accredited by CARF. We have a strong emphasis on dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT) , cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) as well as expressive and interpersonal therapies. We help clients gain insight while learning new coping strategies to better defend against underlying emotional issues. Meal and snack time give clients the opportunity to challenge distorted beliefs around food and their bodies, in a nurturing and supportive setting
Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP)
Our Intensive Outpatient program (IOP) consists of up to six days a week from 14 – 24 hours of treatment, including weekly psychotherapy sessions and individual nutrition counseling. Individuals in IOP may participate all 6 days initially or less, depending on the clinical need. We offer a morning IOP and an evening IOP to best accommodate complicated schedules. This level of care is perfect for individuals to integrate recovery-driven skills in their daily lives as they are happening. Additionally, the program includes evidence-based treatment such as DBT, ACT, CBT groups, experiential therapies and follow-up goals groups to discuss successes and setbacks when using positive coping skills learned in program in day to day life.
At Shoreline, we understand the importance of nutrition therapy throughout the recovery process, and are happy to provide comprehensive and supportive nutrition counseling on-site. A registered dietitian, with extensive experience with eating disorder treatment and recovery, provides all nutrition services. Services begin with a complete client assessment, followed by an evaluation of individual nutritional needs and (if indicated) a starting point meal plan. This is provided as a tool to assist clients in developing healthy eating habits and relationships with food. Individual sessions provide a client with opportunities to discuss food-related issues, set weekly nutrition goals and receive personalized nutrition recommendations. Clients will eventually be taught to reconnect with their innate intuitive eating abilities. Please feel free to contact our Registered Dietitian with any questions regarding the nutritional components of our programs.
Eating Disorder Support Groups
Shoreline offers an periodic Intuitive Eating workshops for those who want to change their relationship with food. We believe disordered eating is the mind’s disconnection from its natural ability to feel hunger and fullness, and is a learned distrust in our ability to honor what our bodies need and want. When active, this group meets weekly and members participate in monthly community meals.
At Shoreline, we offer a weekly therapeutic support group open graduates of Shoreline programs. This group has proven to be incredibly valuable, offering a strong community of individuals who are committed to keeping their recovery a top priority. Topics include, but are not limited to, body image issues, distorted thinking, relationships and boundaries, assertiveness training, relapse prevention and more. Mostly, this is a process group which has been ongoing for 15 years! ANAD- group is an open eating disorder support group, for those in the community. It gives you the opportunity to be in a room with others who are challenged by eating disorder thoughts and or behaviors and are looking to gain support from each other. Although this is not a treatment group, it is facilitated by one of Shoreline’s experienced clinicians.
Multi-Family Support Workshops
A monthly support and educational group for family and friends of individuals in recovery at Shoreline. Come learn how to best support your loved one in their recovery and share with others the anxieties and frustrations related to caring about someone with disordered eating and thinking.
