What is the Eating in the Light of the Moon group?

The Eating in the Light of the Moon group is based on the novel by the same name written by Anita Johnston, PhD, whose approach to disordered eating is through the sharing of folktales, myths, and ancient legends which allow women to relate to the metaphors and discover their own unique life stories.

Women are inspired to free themselves from their eating disorder by examining their intuition, assertiveness, power, emotions, and sensuality based on their life journey. This book teaches those struggling with disordered eating to tap into the feelings surrounding their hunger, eating patterns, and core beliefs, and allows them to embrace their beauty and womanhood.

When does this group meet?

The group meets twice a month for an hour and a half for a book study based on the chapters read and the themes introduced, as well as process and accountability with the group facilitator and fellow members.This group allows members to share their stories and struggles, and to explore their womanhood in a safe environment that leans towards examining oneself rather than learning therapeutic techniques and theories.
